Colorado State

Postage Stamp

The idea behind the stamp was to invoke something noteworthy about the state and simplify it to an inch and a half. Colorado is known for its mountains—the Colorado Rockies, but the famous range is often depicted as cold and snow-capped. It was important to challenge this description with another natural feature of Colorado—Red Rocks Park.

A sky full of sun-beams and a rocky structure that radiated warmth were key to this design. This is reflected in the color choices of warm pinks and various oranges. The retro style font hints that Colorado has always been this way.
